The Pink Abalone is in its natural state. It has not been polished. The time and weathering of the sea is evident. The shell shape is almost round. Its outer surface is decorated with rounded spiral ribs and is reddish brown in color. The outer shell is usually overgrown with marine growths of various sorts. The interior is brilliantly iridescent and beautifully polished. The principal shade is bluish green, there is an area in the center where the muscle was attached, that is especially deep colored and shines with a prismatic luster. This is a commercial mollusk. This Abalone ranges from Monterey, California to Baja California. Habitat is moderately deep water. to the Indo Pacific region.
