Fishtail Selenite Selenite is named after Selene, the Moon Goddess of ancient Greece. Satin Spar Selenite and Optical Selenite (which includes the Fishtail Selenite) are as white and reflective of light as the moon. The name fits! Fishtail Selenite is twin crystals of Optical Selenite that have grown together, and if you will look at the photo above, you will see how it got its name. Optical Selenite is also white luminescence but is transparent as opposed tothe fibrous crystal shafts you find in the Satin Spar Selenite. Optical Selenite is layers upon layers of clear crystal.
