Citrine is a yellow to gold-brown variety of quartz, with a hardness of 7. Its name is derived from its lemon yellow color. Citrine is often created by the natural or artificial heating of Amethyst, which changes from purple to gold at 878 degrees F. It is found in the USA, Brazil, Uruguay and Russia.
